To many people the fall brings the rush of what we call the "holiday's", it is a time of parties, lots of great meals, gifts bought and exchanged and decorations of all kinds make their appearances. For those of us acquainted with the real reason we celebrate Christmas it should be a time of reflection of what the birth of Christ brought into our lives and the extraordinary gift it was for God to allow his Son to live among us so that he could ultimately die for us.
This is the defining difference of being a Christian in teh world today. It is about what Christ did for us and what he calls us to do through him. Love INC is one of the many ways that we can work in our community through Jesus. We go out among our neighbors and co-workers and bring gifts of food, furniture, firewood, diapers and many other services to their doorstep as we love them in the Name of Christ.
This year has been a very busy and difficult year for our local Love INC. The families and individuals who have called for services is up about 20-25% this year, that is what has made us to busy. Unfortunately our finances have not kept up with the changes, they are down this year and as I write this we have about $811.00 in the bank for December.
Christ established Love INC so that we as Christians could come together and show how much God loves those in our community. This next year we will continue to serve the basic needs, this is our primary mandate as a Love INC, but we also want to expand our ministry to provide life-skills, emotional and spiritual mentorship for those willing to take the steps to improve their way of life. What makes us different is that everything we do is through Jesus Christ, everyone who serves has made the decision to follow the ways of Jesus. So therefore it is essential that we continue on with the mission and that takes finances. If our bills aren't paid and we are not open for people to call then we can make no difference in Ketchikan and our surrounding community.

Thanksgiving Baskets this year was a hectic and frantic time. We served 37 families including 96 adults and 72 children. This almost doubles the number of baskets we provided last year. At an average expense of $50.00 per family this amounts to $1850.00 in donated Thanksgiving dinner items from the turkey to the dinner napkins.
Each and every individual and family who donated funds and items to make this a special time to all the families we served.
